Sweater pattern help (knitting neck and shoulders)

I’m knitting this sweater pattern (North Haven Fleece by Louise Silverman) and I’m running into trouble deciphering one of the instructions.

I’m at the top of the back of the sweater and for the shoulder and back of neck, the instructions say to:
“At the beginning of the next two rows, bind off or place 18 stitches on holders for shoulders. Put remaining 24 stitches on a holder for the back of the neck.”

The total width of the sweater back is 60 stitches, so it should be divided as:
[18 stitches for left shoulder] [24 stitches for neck] [18 stitches for right shoulder].

I don’t quite grasp the wording of the instructions, so if anyone could help rephrase them for a beginner like me, I’d be so grateful! Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum!
The pattern is asking you to divide the back sts into 3 portions. One set of 18sts is for the right shoulder, the second set is for the back neck and the third is for the left shoulder. Although the pattern gives you the option of binding off the 2 shoulder sections, you might put them on holders so that you can join them to the front shoulders using 3 needle bind off.

Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it
