I’m making a pull over sweater for myself (my first one). The pattern is from Knitting Pure and simple. I can’t make heads or tails out of how to put the sweater together. Attaching the sleeves etc…
My local yarn shop offers help days on Wed.'s so I’m going in next Wed for help. I looked at the video on this site on how to do a 3 needle bind off (which the pattern calls for) and I think I understand how to do that but I’m so afraid I’m really going to mess things up on my own.
Has anyone ventured a project like this by themselves or did you get some outside help?
I feel so clueless! Right now I’m still working on the second sleeve but I’ll be done in a day or so.
Sweater in pieces - putting together

This is a link to an online book with some very good info on seaming theory and joining pieces. Scroll down to chapter 17 and read the next few chapters after that and see if that helps.
Which pattern are you making? Most of them are knit top down, but a few are bottom up so are you trying to figure out how to put the sleeves on and continue?
It’s pattern number 9729. I’m trying to figure out how to put everything together. Right now I’ve got a back, front, and almost two sleeves (still working on the second sleeve). Everything is knitted separately.
Here’s a good article with photos on how to seam a sweater.

Good luck!
You might see if your LYS would ever offer a class on finishing techniques. I took a class several years ago, and it really helped! There are a lot of good resources on line though. In addition to the ones already mentioned, Vogue’s knitting book has some really good illustrations on various seaming methods.
