this is my 1st time posting; i am a fairly new knitter and attempting my first kid sweater. i just finished knitting in the round for 10in from cast on edge. the pattern states k5, place last 10st on stitch holder, removing the marker for end of rnd from middle of these stitches. I’ve done this.
next it says k62 for back. do i keep knitting in the rnd? am i over thinking this? i think i am. my yarn is coming from the 1st st on the holder. i don’t want to mess it up.
i would appreciate the help thanks!!
Yes, knit the next set of sts, then you probably also place more sts on the holder and keep knitting until you get to the first sts you put on a holder. Then the body is done for now and the next step will probably be to knit the sleeves, then you’ll join them to the body.
It depends on the way the sweater is made. Some sweaters are made front and back separately after you divide it up. You may be supposed to go ahead and knit either the front or the back next, what does it tell you to do? If it is made that way, you knit the front and backs flat.
hi sue
thanks for your help. my pattern says to place those 10st on a holder then k62 for back; k10 and place on a holder, then k61 to end for front. Leave sts on circular needle.
then has me make the sleeves.
i guess i was just worried that i would screw it up. i just knit with my circular needles and leave these stitches on the holder. i’m gonna try it. ![]()
thx!
it says k5 and place the last 10st on the holder, then k62 for back; k10 and place these on another holder, k61 to end for front. leave on circular needles and set aside.
i just don’t want to screw it up…
i appreciate the help.
