Sweater help

Hello! Starting a sweater, knit all in one piece, and a little confused. It begins with Collar and has a rt wing (sts end on holder) and a left wing. Once the left wing is completed the next sections titled “Joining row. Buttonband” with instructions as follows:

Joining row 1(rx):slp1p, p1, 1x1 rib to 2 sets bef end, p1, pBBM, k1, pick up and knit the seal edge sets of the collar as follows: k4,kfb, k to 5 sets bef middle of collar, fb, k8, kfb, k to the live sts on holder (you have incr’d 4 sets and have 40 collar edge sts), k1, pBBM, 1x1 rib to EYM, sM, slp1k,k2,pssp1,k1,p1,slp1p.

Question 1:I have only kfb while regular knitting - how is this done while picking up stitches along selvedge? I tried making just M1 increase instead and ended up with too many stitches.
#2: when i get to the live sts on holder do I just knit those right off the holder? Sounds like a silly question asking it because I believe I do, think the holder I was using made it awkward, but thought I’d asking.

Thank you for making it to the end! Any input is so appreciated!

This sounds like an Ankestrick pattern. When you pick up the stitch, you put the right hand needle tip in and draw up a loop of the working yarn. Transfer this loop to a spare needle, knit into the front and back with the right needle and continue picking up sts with the right needle.

You can either work the sts off the holder or transfer them to a needle which becomes the left hand needle.

It is! Thank you - that’s very helpful!
