has anybody used susan bates velocity circular needles? my local craft warehouse (http://www.craftwarehouse.com/) has them in sock sizes, which i could use a few more of, and they have a 40% of coupon good through this sunday, so i’m wavering…
picture at http://www.joann.com/susan-bates-velocity-circular-knitting-needles-29-size-2/1978410.html but they’re online only and the $12.99 price is already more than craft warehouse in person…
.
What’s the cable like? Very flexible? Are the points to your liking? Can you take some yarn from stash and test drive them before you buy them? How much do they cost after the 40% off?
the points are good, the cable is ok, thin and long and flexible, altho i know there are more flexible ones out there. i’m wondering more about how they hold up, the cable/tip join specifically.
unfortunately, no, can’t test drive them… i asked if they had demo models or if i could try out a pair and was told sure i could, if i bought them. it’s that kind of store, not a friendly LYS
they’re $10-$11 each depending on size, then 40% off…
My one experience with buying needles I wasn’t sure of was a bad one. I love my needles from WEBS for socks and I got them for about the same price you’re looking at, I know if there is a problem the people at WEBS are good to work with. Beyond that, we pays our money and we takes our chances. I’ll never even consider buying Addi needles or buying anything I might want to return at Ben Franklin. I hated those Addi Turbos and they were more than overpriced.
leaning toward ordering more of brands i already have and like, that i know have gotten good reviews.
i’m not sure how they get the people and policies they get, but i think ‘must be a curmudgeon’ is part of craft warehouse’s hiring requirements…
I think that’s a good idea. Even if you pay a few dollars more over the life of the needles it won’t amount to much and it’s cheaper than having needles you don’t love to use.
