I’ve been wanting to knit the “Gidget Goes Hawaiian” bathing suit in Ashley Paige’s “Sexy Little Knits” book for quite some time now. The only problem is I can’t seem to find the yarn she used. It calls for
"4 (4,5,5) balls Patons [I]Katrina [/I](100g; 163yd/150m; 92% rayon, 8% polyester)
I even attempted to find it on Patons site but with no luck. sigh I realize it doesn’t [I]have [/I]to be made with this yarn, but I’m very apprehensive about substituting yarn.
Does anyone know where I would be able to find this specific type of yarn or does anyone have an alternative that would work just as well? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My Hobby Lobby still has some; I think I saw some last week. It may even be discounted. What colors are you interested in and do you need 4 or 5?

I wasn’t aware of Yarndex 'til the two of you suggested it. Thanks! It’s always great to have new resources. It doesn’t look like that specific brand of yarn is available for purchase through that site although it is listed…
And suzeeq what’s this My Hobby Lobby you speak of? (My, I must sounds awfully green to you all, lol.) Anyway, I’m interested in both Noir (10040) and Cherry (10707) though I’m more partial to Noir (or black). Thanks everyone for all your help thus far!

Hobby Lobby is a chain craft/fabric store like Joann. I was by today to look for picture frames and checked - they do have the Katrina for $3.59/ball. Not the colors you mentioned, but there’s a lot of Lagoon (turquoisey blue - much brighter than shown here - http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/forum/showthread.php?t=58785&page=7) and Blossom (hot pink), a little of the lighter blue and white. I don’t think there was any black or cherry, but didn’t dig all the way through the basket. If you like any of those colors, I could go back tonight or Monday and pick up enough for you if they have the black or red…

Oh…gotcha. We don’t have any Hobby Lobby’s around here I’m afraid. We do have Joann’s, Michael’s and AC Moore’s though none carry this yarn unfortunately (I even check online).
Neither of those colors really appeal to me unfortunately…and I checked out another lys and talked to the women there who recommeded another yarn I could use as a substitute (Cascade Fixation). And through my internet research I discovered others using it as a substitute as well…so I think I’m going to go with that. Thanks for all your help though!
