Substitute for Rowan Denim

I need to know the type/weight of yarn I could use to substitute for Rowan Denim. I’m running out of time, and I’m already out of money, so I’m hoping to find something in my stash to use. Any ideas? Thanks Jerri

Elann Den-M-Nit Pure Indigo Cotton? When I was searching for some Rowan Denim that wasn’t too expensive to have posted to Australia, I found on Ravelry that the Elann yarn is an alternative.

Rowan Denim is a worsted weight cotton yarn.

Yes, but it’s designed to shrink just like denim jeans. So if the pattern calls for it, substituting any old cotton won’t work, even if you get gauge, it’ll be too large. Sammis_grammi could try another cotton yarn, but may have to adjust the pattern.

I’ve heard the Rowan denim shrinks lengthwise but not widthwise. I have some waiting to be knit up, but haven’t used it yet so can’t comment from experience.

Apparently the Elann yarn has the same shrinkage properties which is why I suggested it.

And I would second the elann too; it’s essentially the same yarn, I think.
