Hello all, can someone please possibly assist me with a pattern I’m knitting?
I am knitting this long sleeved cardigan in the smallest size. I have cast on 67 sets and knitted the 28 rows of st st.
Row 3 I have knitted as per the instructions but when I knit the last 26 stitches I still have 10 stitches left on my left hand needle. I’ve undone it and redone it and I get the same result.
If someone could please review the instructions and point out where I’m going wrong please, that would be very helpful and appreciated.
Thank you Kez

Can you show us the pattern please?

salmonmac seems to be able to find these patterns so maybe she will have a link. All I found was a pattern for Lullaby Double Knitting Shoes #8925 on Ravelry. I won’t share the link to avoid confusion but they’d be easy to find if someone is interested.

I can’t seem to get the link to attach here unfortunately. I’ll try again. Thank you

If you can quote the first 3 rows, that would help out. Tell us the size you’re making (first, 2nd, 3rd…) too.
We can’t post large portions of patterns here due to designer copyright but a few lines is fine.

GG, all I found was the shoes which are cute but probably don’t come in our size.

Maybe she got the pattern number mixed up, stylecraft 8952 is a cardigan.

That’s darling! I often transpose numbers. I can check and double check and they’re still reversed. Checking to see if that’s the case here was brilliant! Thanks. Maybe this is the one asked about.

Omg you’re right, I’m so sorry, I did put the number in incorrectly and the link you posted is correct. I’m making the smallest size, size is 2-3 years.

Thank you so much for finding my error and your help, you’re a legend!

Thanks so much, Deegle!

Kez, you should start the row with 57sts and end it with the same stitch count. Is that what you have?
K26, k2tog, yfwd, k1, yfwd, s1, k1, psso, k26.
There are 2 yarn overs or increases and 2 decreases, the k2tog and the s1, k1, psso.

Hey Salmonmac, it states there are 67 stitches before doing row 3 doesn’t it? So how should I have 57 stitches?

Under Shape Armholes there are directions to decrease one stitch at each end of the next 5 rows which will take the stitch count from 67 to 57sts

I see that but isn’t that referring to the front left piece as that’s following on from the instructions in the first column?
When I knit row 3 as per the instructions it doesn’t state the amount of stitches after that row and there are still 67 so am I supposed to just knit the last 10?
Sorry to sound stupid I’m just very confused!
Thanks again for your help.
Kez

I see, that is confusing. The directions should be read across all of page one first. So proceed from left to right in the columns. First the cast on in column 1, then the Shape Armholes in column 2 and ending with column 3 which begins with the inch measurements for the armholes. You need the directions for the first row with the single yarn over before going on to the next page and the directions for the 2nd and every alternate row.

On page 2 you’ll then work down the columns as you thought, column 1, then 2, then 3.

Oh ok, I get it now. It yes very confusing for someone that relatively new to knitting.
Don’t know what I’d do without this forum, thanks heaps, you are amazingly clever😘

Ha ha Deegle, makes me feel better, I’m not the only one😂

I love this pattern. Seriously considering making it up for my granddaughter. But yarn recommended is discontinued and yarn sub only lists one possible substitution. Curious what you decided to use. Thanks

Good morning KnittinGigi, I’m using Lionbrand ‘Feels like Butta’ yarn, it’s so soft and I’ve used it for a few projects for children and it’s just lovely.

KnittinGigi, on yarn sub although there is only one yarn suggested if you look on the page there is an option to extend the search further by looking for non-metalic threads. It then gives several yarn suggestions for sequinned yarns. Not sure of thismwould help.

Pretty cardigan.
