I am knitting a slipper pattern and am on “turning the heel” phase. I ended with row 2 where you end with 10 stitches on the right and 18 on the left and the yarn is in the middle. Now row 3 days to sl 1 purlwise, knit to 1 stitch before the gap, work ssk with one stitch from both sides of the gap, k 1 and turn. Row four is similar with knit to one before the gap. How is this possible when yarn starts in the middle and Ellen done with row 3 and turn, where is the gap? So confused

Welcome to the forum!
This video shows a heel that may be similar to the one you’re doing:

Is your yarn at the end of the right hand needle, between the 10sts on the right and the 18 on the left or is it somewhere else? You may need to move some sts to one needle in order to get to the working strand.
Can you give us a link to the pattern? It always helps to see the directions in context.
