I just joined this group. I can’t believe how incredibly useful it is already. So much information and so many resources. I love it!
I’m reaching out today because I’m stuck on a pattern. I’m not a new knitter, but I admit I MAY have baby brain. I apologize in advance if you easily see my error and I didn’t catch it before posting. So here is what I’m dealing with. The pattern is for baby pants. Firstly, I had no idea the pattern went from back and forth to eventually in a round with 4 dp needles. I wish I would have known that before I bought it as I don’t know how to knit on 4 dp needles. (However, I AM always up for a challenge. I guess we’ll see how it goes) I will post a portion of the pattern (before and after I got stuck. I will also post a picture of my work, what it looks like now. And finally what it is supposed to look like finished.
Any help or suggestions you can give is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks and happy knitting!
Welcome to KH!
That’s an adorable pattern. You’re going to be knitting a hem in the leg by knitting the live sts from the cast on together with the live sts on the current row. This video shows picking up sts from the cast on but it doesn’t seem that you need to do that as you have live sts already.
You don’t join in the round until the next step so this can be worked flat. When you do join in the round, make sure the stockinette pattern is to the outside.
Sure. Once you’ve joined the hem, you can knit the sts onto a long circular needle for magic loop. Alternatively you count join the hem using a long circular as your 3rd needle and then you’ve be set to work magic loop.
Excellent question and of course you’ve already gotten an excellent answer. I had been thinking I’d suggest you can knit in the round using any method you prefer. Magic loop would be my choice, other’s like using two circulars, and of course some love to use dpn - not me.
