.iam working on the back size 0-3yr and should end 44 STS.

Got up to shaping armholes for cardigan .
Stuck on keeping part correct when possible,dec1st at each end of next and foll 2 alternate rows end with 44 st .

You’ll have to give up a pattern repeat at each end. Work those sts in stockinette. You may even find that you need to give up another repeat on each edge as you continue to shape the armholes.
