Knitting a sweater where the center body piece is knit first is St st from side to side (26 stitches, St st for 20") Stitches picked up along long selvage edge are use to start knitting the front yoke and sleeves upward using cir needles. At beg of each row, 10 stitches are cast on knitting or purling until marker or seam stitch. OK! Row 4 states "CO 10sts on Rev st side and purl them to marker, slip marker off needle, M1, replace marker, ssk, purl to 2 sts before marker k2tog, slip marker, M1 purl to end.Help! This feels strange!
Ahhh, I started to do that sweater, and it was totally weird. What they’re having you do is a dec and inc along a fake seam for shaping and styling. You can follow those directions exactly, or just forget about it and work it without the inc and dec which is what I did. But I think it uses more yarn this way and I’m a bit short, so I’m just going to knit the yoke and make the back the same, join at the shoulders and pick up and knit the sleeves. Then do the lower panel. I guess it won’t quite be the same sweater, but I’ll be happier with it and it’s a lot easier.
