Stripes on Circular? (am I getting dizzy?)

Hello all:

I am starting a pullover hoodie for a newborn baby. The pattern calls for the sweater to be done with side and shoulder seams. Is it possible to do this on circular needles (without the side seams)? Any thoughts and suggestions are always treasured!

Certainly. Very easy. Just make sure to do ‘jogless joins’ (there are existing posts on this topic) for your stripes so you don’t end up with ‘steps’ where you start the color of the next round.

You can knit the body up to the armholes in the round, then divide for the front and back–working those back and forth. When you get to the shoulders, you can work a 3-needle bind-off. Pick up stitches around the armholes for the sleeves and knit them in the round, too, down to the wrist. NO seams at all!!!:cheering:

for a jogless join one of the easiest methods is to cast on one extra stitch. At the start of your first round slip this stitch and then knit around to the last stitch. Then knit the last stitch together with the slipped stitch.

It is possible to carry the colour you are not using for the stripe up the inside of the sweater. At the start of every round, twist it around the colour you are knitting with. When you need to change colours, just drop the colour you have been using and pick up the new colour giving them a twist. This cuts ou the need to cut the yarn on every stripe and weave in dozens of ends.

At the start of every round, twist it around the colour you are knitting with.

Just make sure to leave the twist just slack enough so you don’t end up with puckering at the color chgs.
