Strange instruction

Hi, all! I am starting a bootie (which shall remain unembellished) and I am knitting it flat on circs. I just finished the sole, and curses! The first row for the top of the foot reads: k1, “p1, Rst,” repeat “…” till the end, last st p1."

What is meant by ‘Rst?’ I’d post a link but I am on a Mac and it isn’t a free pattern but it’s on Ravelry as Funny cat booties. TIA!

What an adorable pattern!

Check the pattern at the very beginning and at the very end and see if the designer defines the abbreviation.

The lady selling the pattern is from Italy and she is on Etsy, with really cute patterns! She doesn’t define the abbreviation, but I can always convo her on Etsy if I have to. Needless to say, I’d love to put the buttons on these booties, but will probably use baubles or ribbon tie instead to keep the booties safe. loasadellamaglia.etsy.com

Reverse stockinette is my guess. What do I win if I’m right? Three smileys? LOL The top of it (instep?) looks like reverse stockinette to me, at first I thought it was garter stitch but not when I take a closer look.

Ok, turns out it is a rib stitch, but I’m still not sure I am doing it right. I will look for a video. Thanks!

Rib stitch. I tried a few things, and it ended up making extra stitches, so I frogged it and will await instructions from the designer. Unless anybody here knows how to proceed, since she’s in Italy and probably sleeping!

What does the pattern say?

You know, I found a video that demonstrates it, but they call it ‘knit one below’ or Fisherman’s rib. Anyhoo, I DID figure it out and it looks pretty cool. I finished one booty, it kind of got messed up on the toe because the stitch count got off, then I tried to blanket stitch one side and it is totally mangled, LOL! I figured out that I can just do a bind off in the contrasting color and it will look nice. I have plenty of yarn left, so I will retry it and hopefully be able to display my results!

These might interest you. I think they’re cute.

Oh, good for you for figuring it out, jinx. I’ve knit 3 booties before: the “prototype” and then the pair without the mistakes.

Those ARE cute and no buttons! I might have to try them! So many booties, so little time!

I hear you!

I like the seamless part. Did you see they have them top down also? Those just might stay on for a while. When they come off they’ll make a safe toy. :teehee: I use to love watching my babies take them off.
