So, I’m knitting a baby blanket, but I’ve hit a part that doesn’t make much sense. THe row goes:
“*P2. yrn. P2tog. P3. Rep from * to end of row.”
I’m not sure what to do with the “yrn” bit. Is it forward, back? Around? There’s an Abbreviations glossary section on the pattern, but it doesn’t cover what I’m supposed to do with that bit .
yrn is a yarn over abbreviation. since you’re doing it between purl stitches, you need to bring the yarn over the right tip and back to the front before you do the p2tog. It will create an extra stitch.
Brilliant!! Thank you so much! I had a feeling that’s probably what it was, but I’m not used to seeing it written that way Learn something new every pattern, I guess! Thanks again!!
It’s a term found in UK and Canadian patterns along with yf and yon. They’re all YOs, but describe what you do with the yarn rather than what you end up with.
