The pattern calls for me to start knitting from the the top down, but I don’t understand the pattern, its weird the way it’s written, or is it just me?
Front: Cast on 29 sts on smaller circular needles with brown heather. Knit rib back and forth on needles for 25 cm - start and end with K 1 (edge st) and K 3. Change to larger circular needles and knit 1 row stockinette st, increasing 10 sts evenly distributed on the row = 39 sts. Knit the next row as follows: K 1 (edge st), * K 2 tog, yo *, repeat from * - *, finish with K 1 and K 1 (edge st). Put a marker in the center st, continue with stockinette st. Then inc 1 st at each side of center st every other row – see Increasing tips.
So yes, written differently than most I have seen. The rib pattern in this pattern is a k3, p3 rib. Here goes:
Row 1: K1 k3, p3 four times, k4.
So here’s the strange part. It is obviously a rib, so the pattern should then follow:
Row 2: K1 p3, k3 four times, p3, k1.
Your even number rows should NOT end with k3, k1, not if you are following a rib pattern.
The k1 at the beginning and end of the even rows is only if you are to do a selvedge in garter stitch, otherwise it should be p1 for the 1st and last stitch on the even rows.
