I have finally completed the back piece to my first sweater and am left with stitches on a stitch holder that I know will join the sleeves and neckband later on. Just wondering how much of a tail I should leave with any stitches on a stitch holder and do I need to knot the last stitch to stop it unraveling?
Any help appreciated!!
If the pattern says to cut the yarn then leaving the tail 8 inches or so should be fine. If you are concerned you can leave it longer. I’ve never had a problem with something unraveling while it’s on the needle so you shouldn’t need to knot it.
6-10" should be more than enough even if you need to sew up any seams. There’s no need to knot it, it won’t unravel.
Thanks Suzee,
All of these little tips are really helpful, thank goodness for this forum!!
