I want to make some socks and/or gloves for my mom for Christmas this year, and I called her to ask about sizes, and she told me to make sure not to use Wool, because she always has a lot of static electricity (she gets shocked by EVERYTHING) and doesn’t want it to be worse… I dont have that much experience with different fibers, as I am still new to knitting, so does anyone know if this is true? And if it is, what is the best fiber to use to minimize shocking (cotton? acrylic?)
I’ve never heard of wool being a problem. Huh.
Anyway, I wouldn’t use acrylic for socks. Whatever you use make sure it’s got some nylon in it for strength. Do you want sock weight or heavier?
I want to use worsted to make warm socks for around the house in the winter, because my mom has all hardwood floors.
Acrylic seems to cause more static to me, but I don’t have a lot of all wool items to compare with.
