Starting ST st with k or p

Does it matter if you’re doing a ST st for 5 inches if you started it with a p row, instead of the normal starting of the k row?

Since you’re going by length and not actual row count, I don’t think it would make a difference at all, but read on ahead in the pattern to see what you do when you finish your stockinette to make sure you END on the right type of row, knit or purl, since that might make a difference in how you proceed, like for shaping.

When I use the long-tail cast on, I start with a purl row. The long-tail CO gives you the first knitted row free. :slight_smile:
