Starfish Sweater

This is the first sweater I ever made (I made a couple more since). It is a toddler sweater that I gave to my nephew and his wife as a Christmas gift.

They don’t have kids yet and aren’t expecting, so it may SEEM like an obnoxious hint from a meddling aunt to get busy, but my nephew is a twin. His twin brother got engaged/married first and had a child first and got the first baby blanket I ever knit. I just wanted them to have a first and am WAY to impatient to put it away until the circumstances fit the gift!

That looks WONDERFUL!! Great job! :cheering:

Nice work for your first sweater!! I love the ribbing pattern

I love it!

I wanna make it in my size! Cute.

What kind of yarn?

I love shamelessly posting pics for compliments! Thanks for all the nice things. The pattern was from a Classic Elite book “Kids Kollection” (goofy name). The one I made is done in Classic Elite Flash (color: Lily Pad) which is 100% mercerized cotton.

Very cute! I like the ribbing, too.

I  that! Fantastic first sweater!

My son would love that, too. He’s got a thing about anything related to the beach. Hmmm …

A first you say?? :??
My first sweater sure didn’t look anything like yours.

It looks like you had lables made with your name. Am I right?
Way da go! :happydance:

Beautiful!

Great job!

Wow! That is GREAT for a first sweater. I haven’t been that brave yet.

And what was the reaction from the recipients?

Great job! it!

Beautiful!! I hope that the recipients appreciated the sweater, and put it to good use when the time comes!! You did a great job.

It’s beautiful, and I think it’s awesome that you gave it to them anyway! I hope they get busy soon! LOL

That is gorgeous, and wow, especially gorgeous for a first sweater! Fantastic work!

And as for posting pics just for compliments-- :rofling: :rofling:–we’re often too hard on ourselves; the compliments help keep our knitting in perspective!

How did you like working with mercerized cotton? I’ve been tempted several times to knit with it…

Wow, that is beautiful!! Love the color, the design you chose, and I am amazed that it’s your first sweater

Hope you get to see it on a little one soon

Yes! I got them from Charm Woven. Puts a nice finishing touch on things!

They were actually very happy about it! They absolutely want children, but are both young and (wisely) waiting. Thankfully the thought behind my gift was not misunderstood!!!

I liked the yarn but it’s not really as forgiving as other types that have more give and personality. I’m mostly curious to know how it holds up to laundering, but it’ll be a LOOONG time before I find out!!

That sweater is GORGEOUS!

Im glad you knew they were purposefully waiting before you did that, though…my experience with infertility was SCREAMING hoping that they weren’t already trying and having trouble…
