I saw this pattern and thought I might try it but I’m confused with the following:

With circular needle, cast on 168 sts. Do not join. * Work 8 rows St st, then work 8 rows Reverse St st. Rep from * for Pat St until a total of 168 rows have been completed, end on WS. Bind off.
So if you do 8 rows st st, how do you switch to reverse? I’m just not “seeing it” and it’s driving me crazy!:hair:
I’m sure the answer is really easy and I’m going to feel foolish but there you have it!
Hmmm… since it’s knit flat, I would think when you switched you would have 2 purl rows together, then 2 knit. Wouldn’t that sort of make a “ditch” and a “bump?”
Whoops, I missed the part about it being flat, and since it’s knit from side to side and the st st/rev st st ribs go up and down, you wouldn’t be able to knit in the round, sorry. So the rows would be kpkpkpkp, then pkpkpkpk and alternate them. You might want to thread some contrasting yarn or put a safety pin on the knit side of the first st st section so you won’t get lost. (I do sometimes and I’ve got a lot of experience.) The gusset is also the strap, but you could just knit the strap and seam it together without the gusset part.
