Squares of MANY COLORS! Project Complete!

Thanks! Whoops…forgot the pattern. I didn’t follow this other than to learn how she did it. I just went off on my own. The variegated yarn colors really look cool in it!

Way cool square, Jan! (both of them actually)

I also would like to do this. I’ve already started making the squares. Great idea! Mary

I’ve finished my 1 square, well…kinda. I bound off 1 row too soon, so I’ll need to rip it back a little and add the other row, lol. So I’ve been kinda procrastinating on it a bit. I’ll try to get to it today, so I can cast on for another! :happydance:

I have been TRYING to work on this pattern. It was giving me fits, I kept getting extra stitches, or not enough, a lot of frogging, but I was determined to learn it. :wall: Last night I finally managed to get a repeat done, and it all worked out. BUT… I cast on 47 instead of 57. With the 47 it measures 11.5 inches, if I cast on 57 will it be too big?
I’m gonna frog it one more time, and cast on 57 to see what happens. :eyes:

Here are pics of my squares. The finished was done in just garter stitch and the one still on the needles is 5x5 rib.
Theyare not as beautiful as some but my skills are still limited.

They are wonderful!
It doesn’t look like your skills are still limited. :notworthy:

 Beautiful squares eveyone. And Rita, your skills don’t look limited to me–beautiful work and I love the yarn color!

Thank you purlygirl.

I can knit toys and such but i find it so difficult to follow certain patterns.
I am one of those people that can try a pattern and do it wrong constantly and then if i leave it and go back to it a month later i find i can do it.

Rita, that is nothing to worry about. before any of us started knitting, none of us knew how to hold the needles. :teehee:
as for me, i’ve been looking online for patterns for 12x12 afghan squares. it seems that no one wants to make this easy because i can’t find any. i’ve never taken a stitch pattern and used it to make something. i guess it might help if i actually had a stitchionary. looks like i’ll just have to get up the guts to experiment.

I know what you mean. It is difficult to find 12x12 in patterns.
And to be truthful my brain does not work very well with numbers. LOL
Lady Violet maybe you could create a pattern for us less abled to

I know what you all mean. I searched all afternoon for patterns and couldn’t find very many.

Sandy- I’m posting some pics of the horseshoe pattern now that I hopefully have it at 12 inches. I added 3k to each side to make it come out right. My question is… will the curve at the bottom cause you problems with seaming up the squares? And the pattern is a bit puffy in spots, is that a problem?

Do you think I will ever get to the point where I don’t ask so many questions???

Hey, don’t worry about that one row. Just leave it, and I’ll block it if necessary. Also, when I seam the blocks together, they will pull each other into shape.

Bless your heart, my friend. 11.5 would be fine. I can always block it, or add a couple rows of single crochet.

I think they are LOVELY!

YES!!! FINALLY everyone else sees what I’ve learned. Free 12 inch square patterns are nowhere to be found! There is one series of 12 inch patterns I know of, but they cost money.
The Great American Aran Afghan, The Great American Afghan, The Great North American Afghan 2, and The Great American Kid’s Afghan

I designed one 12 inch pattern. The Seed Blocks square.

The curve is not a problem, my friend.
The puffiness will add beauty and depth.
The questions will never end, because we are ALL still learning!

 You are doing such a wonderful job!

Shandeh, please count me in …thanks !!! great job !!!..does it have to be knit ? do you accept crochet (it faster for me)?? let me know …i can do either one:thumbsup:

Thanks hellokitty!
You’re welcome to do crochet, as long as the square measure 12 inches each way. Thanks for asking!

The whole time I’ve been knitting on the “horseshoe” square I’ve been telling myself that it doesn’t look like a horseshoe but, it looks like something familiar, I just couldn’t figure out what. Last night I figured it out. It looks like a Star Trek symbol. :roflhard:

When I figured it out I got a lot of  from my family. :teehee:

You’re right! :roflhard:

:roflhard: :roflhard:

I figure it is the logical way of seeing the square. :teehee:

Lol You are so right Genny. I just had another look and it does resemble the star trek sign.
A bit of sci fi , just what we need
