Spring-y socks

Hello there!

Just thought I’d share a picture of the pair of socks that I just finished today! These will be a birthday gift for a friend of mine, and I decided to call them my “Hint of Spring” socks.

This is my 3rd pair of socks now…thanks to the simply wonderful videos GrumpyGramma suggested. A BIG thank you to her!!!

So…if you are scared to try knitting socks, lay aside your fears. These tutorials are excellent, and they lead you step-by-step through the whole pattern.

I  your Hint of Spring Socks! You’re welcome for what little I did. Shandeh, one of our mods, made the videos, I’m sure she’d love to hear that you found them so helpful, all I did was provide the link. Honestly, I’ve not even watched all of them. I’d found a toe-up tutorial/pattern/recipe that I was already using when I came across them but I know she’s a fantastic teacher. Doesn’t it feel great to succeed so beautifully? Shandeh will be so pleased!

Those are very springy and pretty!

Oh, what a lucky friend! Those are fabulous. I like that they’re short, too–perfect for spring and summer wear.

Oh they are so lovely! I’m in total SOCK ENVY! All my knitting…and not one sock to my credit!

Great work!

Thank you all! And now, my grandma and grandpa each request a pair…and my mom…and my sister…I can reasonably say already that this will not be my last pair!

Yes! Another sockaholic! Check out dancejunky’s socks, this pair really blew my mind - http://www.knittinghelp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=111568&highlight=dancejunky. And the Skew Socksauburnchick did may be the first sock pattern I actually use.

Beautiful and a very welcome hint of spring. I’m sure your friend will love the socks and the idea that possibly spring might be on the way. No wonder you have family lining up for pairs. Lovely work!

I think these are lovely and a nice spring jumping off point. Good job.

Those look super! I will try some socks soon, I think. Glad to hear it’s not too daunting!

:aww: Thank you do much. I’m on a real sock kick this year. My goal is to have at least 2 weeks’ worth in my drawer. Just finished my 4th pair of the year and already mulling over what the 5th pair will be. And 6th. I might do 4AAT again.

Those socks are so nice! I put off sock knitting for quite a while, because I couldn’t figure out the heel. But eventually I got irritated with myself for being a quitter and tried it again. I made a few fugly pairs and then got the hang of it. Socks are now my favorite things to knit.

You’re welcome. Your sock adventures are inspiring. I feel I might get a bit more adventurous.

I only have 2 pair going right now, one for me and one for my sister. My next pair may be Skew Socks. They look interesting and it’s time I used a sock pattern I think. I want really wild colors for it. Suggestions? I’ve been looking for cotton sock yarn and maybe some ofthiscotton and elastic would do.

Wine/mauve or Aegean Sea/Grand Canyon.

Beautiful socks, KG! So glad my videos helped.

I even like my fugly socks. They’re warm and comfy. That’s what sox is for.
I’m doing the heel stitch (sl 1, k1) on short row heels and I think I like the way it’s working out. My Felici Sport Macaroon yarn is sooooo soft and nice, too bad I’ve promised them to someone else.

Yep, I still wear my fugly pairs, except the very first pair, which my dogs chewed up. Everybody’s a critic, right? The other thing socks are for is showing off to my friends.:woot:
