Spring beret

This isn’t technically a “how to” question but I’m going to put it here anyway.

I wanted to make my daughter the Spring Beret http://www.knittinghelp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=89411&highlight=spring+beret

The pattern calls for size 8/9 24" circular needles, and the pattern even mentions that “interchangeable needles work well here.” I use KnitPicks Options and have the right needle tips and the 24" cable. I cast on 74 stitches, but the 24" cable is way too big. The yarn is really stretched all around the cable and made it too difficult to knit. I guess I’m going to have to buy some fixed circs, but I wondered if anyone else who made this beret had the same issue.

I have made the hat and know I used my KPs (only needles I do use)…but I can’t remember if the cable was to big or not. You could just split the sts and knit it magic loop :happydance:

You can use the single loop variation of Magic loop to get it started. Once you do the increases there will probably be enough stitches to fit around a 24" needle, that’s what I do. Then when you decrease at the top, you can use the single loop for a while, then Magic loop at the end.
