just wondered if anyone knew anything about them because it seems like i have been bitten by a flipping spider.the part hthats been bitten is about twice the size it should be hot and really sore.
i cant get through to my gp to ask what i shuld do (he’s on holiday!!).
i know the spiders here arent really nasty once just enough to hurt like crazy and i know some need some minor treatment (ive bee,n bitten before, but not like this).
anyone got any ideas what i can do, i have googled it but it says absolutly ntohing except get medical help, not an option if i cant get hold of it :tap:
There are poisonous spiders everywhere even if they are in lower numbers in some places. That doesn’t sound like a normal spider bite to me. I’d go get it checked out pronto!
i will go tonight (my dads home with the car tonight for 1 night). if it hasnt got any better that is, dontbsee the point if it gets better on uts own.
right now ima tad miffed as i cant knit, it hurts to much and i cant grip the needles at all :hair:

its actually feeling a lot better now. my body does tend to fight things off really well itself. benifits of being into healthy eating/life style etc. has an upside
how it is now i dont think i’ll bother being honest, i can hold my needles ish ok and now knit a bit, so i know its on the mend.
the swellings gone down a little bit, pins and needles have gone, the heats gone down a bit.
if it is bad in th emorning i will go see someone, but right now it feels ish ok. on the mend for sure.
i just tend to over react with bites as my horse was bitten and then a spider laid eggs in her neck!! nasty hey.
Susi, I have a leg that is so ugly due to a spider bite that I have to keep it covered. Don’t delay, go to an ER or urgent care if it’s still at all painful and red.
Had to have six surgeries on this dumb leg just to be able to keep it.
I agree with everyone else, go to the doctor, don’t wait. Spider bites can be nasty things. They can start to seem better then get worse really fast. Make us all feel better and go. Keep us posted.

Do you remember what the spider looked like that bit you?
Was it brown? or did it have a big round butt with long slinky legs? (not all black widows or as they call em in Europe “shoe button” spiders are black, they do all have the same general shape to their body though and they do all have some sort of red splotch on their rear end somewhere).
The brown ones are the ones you really have to worry about. Black widow bites generally attack throught the blood stream (causing cramps, aches n pains and in some cases organ failure). Yes, you can die from a black widow bite. But beings black widows are very distinctive, they are a bit easier to avoid than a lil’ ol’ generic looking brown spider.
Now the brown ones, known as “fiddlebacks” or brown recluse are the ones that cause the most tissue damage. The tissue around the bite necrotizes (dies) and becomes gangrenous. Usually if it’s caught in time a strict regimen of antibiotics n other meds can help. If not, it definitely ain’t perty!!!
You can google for pics of “brown recluse” spiders or “fiddleback” spiders. to get a picture of what they look like.
Like the other posters have said though, GET TO THE DOCS QUICK N IN A HURRY!! It might not be a hyper poisonous spider (all spiders are poisonous to some degree) but you might be having a reaction like some people have a reaction to bee stings.
Another thing you might consider also is that centipedes have very painful stings as well!
Do you have brown recluses in France? That’s my first guess. If it’s a possibility GO NOW. Your flesh will literally rot away in that place. I am not exaggerating.
Here in North Carolina spider bites aren’t something to fool around with. One woman I met, her cat got bit on it’s side by a brown recluse and that poor cat had 3 surgeries…and 8 months later the cat still has to wear an e-collar because it’s not totally healed yet. Her neighbor had a donkey that got bit by a brown recluse too and they actually lost that donkey! Please make sure that you are on the mend, and if it even looks “the same” get to a doctor fast!
thankfully the spiders arent so nasty here, they just make the area swell up and hurt a bit. and stop you from knitting for a bit :nails:
i must confess the swelling is worse today, but i did unload a 600kg bale of hay by hand last night, so i’m gona judge it later on when its had the chance to recover (hagvent been to bed yet to let it recover).
if i was in america i would have been straight to the a&e room.
if theres no change by the morning i will go for sure, but other than the swerlling and not a great amount of feeling its ok. i can now hold my needles ok to knit, admitidly not straights just circ’s, but thats ok as im making socks

Now I’m worried.
My body totally overracts to insect bites of every sort. Which is awful because I never know what to think! I remember a spider bite on my shin about 40 years ago. My leg, from the knee down, swelled up like a presto log. I guess it wasn’t deadly spider bite. I’m still here, and was too dumb in those days to go to a doctor about it. I was lucky.
But, when I was raising my 5 kids…I had them into the doctor pronto. I had a son who was very allergic to bee stings. Camping was always a headache.
We have had spider bites quite often here. My son has gotten a few on his legs thoroughout his life. One day we found out that wolf spiders liked his drawers and would get into his clothes. They really are more like a large mosquito bite with hard circles (fang marks?) on the top. We’ve never worried about them because they always look the same and although itchy they go away after a few days.
I’d keep a good eye on it. If it gets any worse at all I’d see a doctor. You don’t want to ignore any changes or any worsening in it though. This articlemay help.
oh goodness i am so sorry i hsould have said that i’m ok. swelling went away on its own, i just have the marl left where it bit me now and some lack of movement in my hand as well as my arm aches like crazy when i knit for more than an hour at a time.
i bet camping is a headache with a son that cant take bee stings. ouch though, i havent been stug by a bee or wasp and franktly i dont want to, they look evil being honest.
i am making a determind effort to wear gloves when dealing with anywhere a creapy crawly could be lurking now. i usually love spiders but am starting to dread seeing them as this is bite no3. the other 2 were on a vein so the poien spread thin i guess and i was fine apart from a poisen line and a strange sensation in my wrist.
must admit i had the most compasionate family in the world, my mum was just for god sake deal with it its just a bit swollen. oh how i love her hehe

Good thing, too, that you are being more careful. With each additional bite, your body’s response will get worse and worse. One of the worst reponses is when you puff up somewhere else. Like, you get a bite on your hand, and your face swells up. Or you get a bite on your leg, and your arms swell up. Those are signs that you may die from another bite, and the spider doesn’t even have to be “deadly poisonous” as black widows and brown recluse’s are.

No offense, but with the lingering symptoms I think it’s pretty foolish to not see a doctor about it. Many arachnid toxins can do some pretty serious damage to the nervous system, heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver.
Sorry i should have said i did speak to my doctor on the phone who said what i described there isnt a problem, but as i am going to hospital in 2 weeks time just mention it to them so they can just rule out anything. but he’s happy that i am fine.
I will just get it checked out then just to be sure in 2 weeks time
