To shape the shoulders and neck of the sweater Iām knitting it says to:
Bind off 10 stitches at the beginning of next 2 rows, 9 at the beginning of the next 2 rows and then 9 at the beginning of the next two rows.
Now the part Iām confused aboutā¦ The pattern reads: AT THE SAME TIME, bind off center 21 stitches, then bind off 5 stitches from each neck edge twice.
Is the pattern telling so to do the binding off of those first 6 first? AND THEN do the center bind off and the 5 stitch bind off at the same time? I was confused as to what I was suppose to be doing at the same time. Iāve included a picture of the exact wording if Iām not clear. Thank you in advance for your help!

These instructions happen at the same time. Before working any bind offs, mark off the center 23sts. Begin the row by binding off 10sts and when you get to the center sts, bind off 23sts. Work to the end of the row, turn and bind off 10sts then continue to the gap at the center sts. This is shoulder 2. Drop the yarn strand, attach a new end of yarn at the other side of the gap (shoulder 1) and bind off 5sts then work to the end of row. Youāll repeat a similar sequence, binding off 10sts at the armhole edges and 5sts at the neck edges on each shoulder until the given number of bind offs have been worked.
Of course, you can work one shoulder at a time if thatās easier. I usually draw a simple diagram of the bind offs so that I can check them off as I knit.
What is the name of your pattern?
Thank you so much for taking the time to explain that! I guess I need to back up a few rows which wonāt be fun with the binding off I did already!
