Sophie Bag

Thanks to Jan and Amber for the inspiration that came just at the right time! I just found out on Monday that one of our best nurses gave her notice. Sophiemakes the PERFECT “good luck” gift!

What a GREAT stash buster…I made this from some Cascade Pastaza (008 and 065)that I had left over from a pair of cloggies. I had JUST enough yarn, and I mean JUST…like down to 12"!

Last, this is the QUICKEST KNIT EVER EVER EVER! I cast this on Monday evening and finished & felted it last night. WOW!

As always, my lighting stinks and the color is bad. Its black and a red/black tweedy color that looks pinkish in this pic. Anyway, its dark and elegant and will make a great evening bag.

I love it I can’t wait to make a sophie bag for me people keep asking me for booga bags and I am so bored with them!!!

Oooooh pretty! I like the colors. It will make an awesome gift.

Now, you’ve inspired me! I think I’ll have to make a couple of these for Christmas gifts next year. They are such a quick knit, and so cute!

It looks great KellyK! I’m amazed at how quickly that knitted up…my poor fingers must be to cold to knit that fast! The colors are great together and I’m sure your friend will appreciate the kind gift!

:inlove: I love it, Kelly! I’m working on my first felted bag, and I can’t wait to finish and felt!! (You are making me want to leave my office and go home and knit  :XX:)

Where is the Sophie bag pattern from?

Ditto Holly said. I feel sort of sick. :XX:

Very nice! Love the color combination! Great work.

 I wonder how many things I can have going on needles at one time…

Thanks!!!

I ALWAYS want to go home and knit.

There’s a link to the pattern in my first post, Holly…

Kelly, that’s so pretty! I have had “Sophie” on my To Knit List for about a year now, and I’ve never managed to cast it on. Some day!! It’s really nice, though, and I’m sure your nurse friend will be bowled over by it!!

Kelly, where did you purchase this lovely yarn? On-line or LYS?

I like the different colors and this yarn would eliminate my personal need to knit felted things with double strand. Everything feels “sturdier” when I use 2 strands.

I couldn’t even bring myself to knit a dish cloth with one strand. Felt too flimsy.

Where did you guys say that support group was again???

I bought the Pastaza at my LYS. It felts up CRAZY fuzzy and Ill have to shave the bag a bit (Im gonna use my DH’s beard trimmer…dont tell him!) before I give it to her.

I think the one strand is GREAT for a little purse like this one, but if you are making something like a tote that has to carry anything hefty, Id still double strand.

That looks awesome KellyK!

Btw… Hows the other tote doing for you?

Ya know.,…I am quite sure that one of these days Im going to post an FO and everyone will say “that’s the worst most ridiculous piece of crap knitting I have ever seen!” I CANT believe that you will all be SO supportive FOREVER! You’re too good to be true!

My HUGE tote is doing quite nicely…I felted it a bit more, and its waiting to be shaved. :rofling:

:roflhard: :roflhard:

Now, Kelly, you know we would never say anything like that. But it did bring to mind that quote from “The Incredibles:” Everyone’s special, so no one is.

But, we all know that’s not true here, it’s just that we’re all such doggone fabulous knitters, and we love each other so. This place serves as a huge refrigerator in our metaphorical mother’s kitchen.

Don’t you mean a “shearing”. I know BAAAAAAd joke. Tee Hee!

Very pretty!

That is gorgeous, Kelly! I bet she’ll love it!

Did you put anything into the bottom to prevent sagging?

Kelly, I LOVE that bag! It looks SOOOOO nice.

Im giving it to her today… :cheering:

I didnt put anything in the bottom because its kind of rounded…but, its more like an evening bag, so I dont suspect she’ll be using it for anything heavy.

Thanks, Jouf!
