Soft self-striping not synthetic yarn?

Hi!

I want to make a scarf, the pattern uses Noro. However I find the Noro yarns too rough and looking for something more soft that’s self-striping and feel like merino. It’s a present so I want non-synthetic material for warmth.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I was looking at elann but not sure how soft they are.

You might try looking up the project on Ravelry and then checking the yarns used. For the Ronbias, many used the Noro but not everyone.
