I’m making my son a pair of socks for his 12th birthday. I’m using Silver’s 2 Toe Up on One Circular Needle tutorial.
My question is this… after the heel, I want a rib or single cable or something… anything other than plain socks…
any ideas for a 12 yr old boy?

a 2x2 ribb all the way up the leg will help keep the sock fitted.
I am making socks for each of my sons and using k3p1 for a rib. The choice is yours.
Here’s a pattern for a pair of ribbed socks with cables. You could use the leg portion of the pattern to do that on your socks.
