Socks!

Ok I finished my first Booga Bag and felted it! I love it…thatt’s what everyone in my circle of family and friends is getting for Christmas this year!

So I have 2 skeins of Magic Stripes by Lion-something and I want to make socks. Can anyone give me any hints and also an easy pattern for socks?

i was going to try that but i’m not good enough to knit with mor than 2 needles… are all socks made that way?

No, you can use 2 circulars, or one long “magic loop”. BUT… I want you to know when I wrote that tutorial, it was done on a soapmaking forum. Soapmakers, mind you, NOT regular knitters, followed along. Some of them had never knit anything other than a garter stitch scarf.

Everyone made socks as a result. And they were FANTASTIC.

If this is the way you want to go I would suggest googling it.
BUT…I think that you should give Silver’s tutorial a go because they are really very easy. There’s also a video on here about dpns

[color=blue]Hi I have to tell you that I had :shock: never made anything on 4 needles but thanks to Silver’s wonderful tutorial (with pictures! lots of pictures) :cheering: I made a pair of socks! and they are wearable! lol DH wore them all evening even in 86 degree weather the night I finished them :heart: Give it a try–if I can do it you can for sure! :sunny: [/color]

YEAH! I was one of them :slight_smile: I had never knit before in my life, and I was able to manage the needles and make lots of socks.

Keep in mind, you don’t have to use more than two needles at one time with DPN’s, they are just “there” hanging out…it’s really not as hard as you might think, and Silver (Hi Sil!!) is a TOTALLY ROCKIN’ teacher!

Trust me, if she can teach ME, you will do just fine! It will feel like the needles are going to poke you in the eye (and she mentions this) for the first few pair, but it does get better…I promise!

LOL, just beware :o (or is that be aware) of dogs that are about to jump in your lap :blush: when you are knitting socks; with metal dpns…but, alas…she was unharmed. Although, I will now live 5 less years as a result of the :shock: shock!
