Socks

I am a beginner and trying to knit my first pair of socks on double pointed needles. The link above is the pattern I am using. I have got to the part where it says to shape heel…
I don’t understand - I have 20 sts on one needle with the marker between first and last sts.
The pattern says row1: P13, p2tog, p1 turn ----- what happens to the rest of the stiches???
Each time you turn the work over they seem to have lost more sts.javascript:emoticon(’:grrr:’)
I am very confused. Can someone please help?
If anyone knows of a video of knitting socks or illustrated pattern that would help.

You just leave them alone when you turn. That will give you short-row heels, which makes the fitted heel shape. You will eventually work over all of the stitches.

Edit: Watch Amy’s video on turning the heel of a sock. It should give you a better idea of what I am talikng about.

This is not a short row heel pattern, it’s a heel flap and turned heel. Take a look at my sock knitting tutorial (link in my siggie) and Amy’s sock video (under Advanced Techniques at the navigation bar at the top of the page).
Trust the pattern! Follow the directions and when you’re finished turning the heel, you’ll be amazed.

Like Silver said, trust the pattern.

It doesn’t seem like it makes sense, but it works out perfectly. Just do each step, and you’ll be amazed when you’re done with that part of the pattern!
