I’m ready for a new knitting challenge and want to try socks on 2 circular needles. How long should the needles be? 16" or 24"?
16 is what I use. Worked fine for me. And I was doing 2 at once.
i like 24 and longer… (but that’s because i like the longer ‘tip’ these longer needles offer. ) i don’t like really short DPN’s either
i even use 29 inch circs!
and i like 2 different needles, too.
i like aluminum (susan bates and Boye) and try to get different colors, since i think it makes the process easier.
(failing that, mark the tip with a sharpie… i find nail polish and other paints to be too thick)
I use 24". The neelde is more comfortable to hold on to that way.
I agree, I like 24" the 16" are to short to hold onto.
I use 1 at 24 and the other at 16… That way I know that I completed a row when I use both… Just easier for me…
I like 24’s too.
Add another vote for 24. I’ll even use 32 if I don’t have the 24 (hmm need to buy more 24). I like use 1 knitpick options and one addi lace. The different colors makes it easy to tell which one I’m supposed to be using, and they both have that nice sharp tip :happydance:
I use 16". They’re more than long enough for me…
I always use 2.00 mm (US #0) Addi or KnitPicks circs. I used Addis until KnitPicks came out, and since I only have a few pairs of the Knitpicks in that size and length, I tend to use Addis a bit more, but I like them both. Because they’re so small, the points are about the same, so it doesn’t really matter to me.
Thanks everyone for your input. I think I’ll try 24" and see how that goes. Now to find the needles, KP’s are backordered until Aug 15. I don’t want to wait that long!
I also use 24" I find they hang better
I just finished a hat on two circular needles. The needle size on both was the same (I have a Boyle Needlemaster and a second set that was my mom’s). I tried with a 14" cable and a 21" and the 21 was fine but I switched to an :cheering:16 and the piece just flowed along. Sock or hat working with 2 circulars the principle is the same. Used Cat Bordhi book for guidance as I had never used 2 cirs before and now I am hooked.:woohoo:
