My mom wants me to knit her socks for her table legs so they don’t mark her floor. She has the older stye table with round legs approx 1 1/2 inches wide.
What about the felt pads sold in hardware stores? They protect floors quite well.
If you knit socks for the table legs, they’ll soon wear out, unless you felt them. But if you felt them, I’m not sure how you’ll be able to stretch them over the legs to get them on the first time.
Going with DogCatMom’s idea, you could knit a small pad with all garter stitch using 100% wool. You can felt this using hot water and agitation, either by hand or in a washing machine. Once the pad is felted, you can cut it in sections to fit the bottom of her table legs and glue them on. Problem solved!
