Sock Question

Just for my future knowledge…what if I knit too loosely to knit with size 0 needles for sock yarn? (On a pattern which recommends size 0 to get guage) Is it possible to get any smaller than that?

The reason I am asking this is because I am having to knit my DK weight socks’ ribbing with size 1 needles (US) It still seems somewhat loose, but the rest of the sock fits. I am doing 1x1 ribbing.

Should I have posted this in How To? I’m not quite sure on this one.

Try a 2x2 rib… see how that goes…

there are 0000 dpns but not sure if there is anything in between.

I have some 000 and 00 in my Susan Bates Sock Set (4 sets from 000 to 1).

I got them at Joann’s.

Oooh! i’ll be sure to look for susan bates at joanns. I’m going tomorrow to get some yarn guides.

Come to think of it, that might be the set that I have. Egads, what if I am using the 000 and still getting a loose guage?! I need to find that box…

ETA: I found them! Actually, I think I am a doofus… I believe I am using size 1s from the set which means I can still go down in size.

Next socks I can try the 2x2 ribbing

OMG! I just found a site that goes down to 0000-0000! I wonder if that’s still in US sizes… :?? http://www.purseparadise.com/knittingneedles.html

You could try switching to using 2 circs. I find that I can knit tighter with 2 circs and can go up a size in needles. The other thing is I have found some of the bargain sock yarns like Knitpicks to be too loosely spun so that they have a tendency to stretch and it can be harder to get the right gauge with them.
