hi!
i’m working on a sock pattern that i like so much i have made NO modifications to.
however, the toe calls for a “star toe,” decreasing down to 8 stitches total, breaking the yarn, threading it through the stitches, and weaving the tail on the inside. is there a reason i can’t do kitchener for those 8 stitches instead or is that too few stitches for kitchener? (4 on each needle)
thanks a bunch!
I don’t think I’d like a toe like that! I see no reason why you can’t graft the toe. That’s about the number of stitches you’d use anyway isn’t it?
You could graft it, but personally I’ve done that type of toe where you pull the yarn through the last stitches and I kind of liked it. I made more of a rounded toe.
I thought it would bunch up? No?
Not with that few sts…
I made these socks with a gathered toe. It’s not a star shaped toe, but it is gathered.
I like to use this method. As KnitQueen said, it makes a rounded toe that I like much better. I did make myself learn to graft though…
thanks all! i haven’t tried this on a toe yet, so maybe i just will! if i don’t like it, i can always pull it out and graft (or more likely, just graft the other one ;-))
