Noro Kureyon? It’s so beautiful, but not in my budget right now. I’d like to make a bag for a friend for her birthday (April 2). Does it use the 3 skeins completley, so about 324 yards, right? I haven’t looked that extensively locally at Hobby Lobby or Joann’s but the only thing I recall off the top of my head being feltable is Bernat Lana, but that only comes in solids, and rather neutral tones. And I think I’ve seen Lopi too but again only in solids.

That’s a good question as not all of us can afford Noro. Finding the stripes is the hard part I think. I found some Lion Brand Wool that would felt, but it doesn’t have stripes…although the pattern is lovely!
One option would be to carry two solid colors together…it doesnt STRIPE, but produces a lovely, mottled effect. The price of WOTA from Knitpicks cant be beat! Other more affordable options are Cascade 220 and Plymouth’s Galway. 
You might consider doing a search of this forum on the word “booga” and see what others have used.
Is the dye-your-own that Knitpicks has feltable or is it a superwash? Can you dye yarn that is feltable, or do you have to be vewy vewy caweful (in best Elmer Fudd voice) not to felt it in the process?

I have heard that Lionbrand Landscapes felts, but not sure about that.
If it’s 100% wool it should felt. Is this the one you mean? It says handwash so it’s not superwash. I’m not sure about dying that type of yarn though.
That’s purty stuff kitkat…do they have a varigated version as well?
And that’s what I am talking about Jan. But then of course I’d have to go and buy $40.00 worth of stuff from KP to make it worth my while. 
Plus cake dyes too if I dyed my own.

I’ve had the same question for quite some time. I’ve wanted to make a double stranded booga in a bigger size but it would cost too much to use the NK.
Oh my… I don’t know what the regular price is in in an LYS, but I might have to splurge, too… Just look at these colors! This place charges a flat rate of $6.99 shipping so it may or may not be cheaper to get locally…worth a look if you are seriously thinking of getting that yarn.
Lion Landscapes is not good for felting. It says it’s feltable, but I’ve tried it and it just ends up looking worn out and ratty, NOT felted. I was suspicious as it’s not 100% wool anyway.
Agree with you there Yvonne on the Landscapes, I was suckered by the “felts when machine washed and dried” on the label. I did try felting something with it, but it just looked yuk afterwards, but I wasn’t sure how much of that to blame on trying to felt in a front load washer. I think it’s 50/50 wool/acrylic so that’s probably why it’s not a good felter.
What about using two strands of color A for a while, then a strand of color A and a strand of color B for a while, then two strands of color B, then back to AB and back to A? It would look like the colors are blending to the center solid stripe and then back again. You could do this a few times. You could even throw in more colors.
I have one skein of that handpainted - am going to order two more, it wont be striped like the boogas but I do think it will be pretty.
