Has anyone here read Stephanie Pearl-McPhee’s “Yarn Harlot”? More specifically, the story entitled “One little sock”? It’s the story of a doula who knits while she keeps the laboring woman company, but this time something goes wrong and the baby dies during the early stage of labor. It is so beautifully written and so incredibly sad. I have always been a pretty sentimental person, but this story would move a marble statue to tears. I guess it hit me even harder because I found out two weeks ago that I am pregnant with my second baby… I hope and pray that there will be more than just one little sock for my peanut when he or she is born.
I haven’t read the book, but it sounds good.
Congrats on the new baby, I hope all goes well for you.
Stephanie, a.k.a. The Yarn Harlot, moves us to tears of sadness and joy when she relates her experiences.
I wish you and your loved ones many years of many hand-knit socks!
