Seamed up and everything. Was thrilled by such an accomplishment so went to show mother dearest…who goes " You should have stuffed him more" Me: hits head against brick walk argh!!!
Ahhh, that wasn’t very nice. I try to avoid saying such things, not always successfully.
Congratulations on finishing, can you please post a photo? I wanna see!!!
I’m sure it’s fine! I sometimes stick something like a yarn needle in to rearrange the stuffing and it helps, too. Can’t wait to see it!
Neither of you are seeing anything until its finished - unless you want to help me by giving me a tutorial on how to sew the felt eyes and nose? Never sewn in my life lol. apart from seaming up this guy lol
Hot glue?
I’ve never sewn anything like that onto something knit. I’d help if I could, guess I’ll just have to wait.
I could probably teach you to sew if you wanna learn, you just need a yarn the same color as the felt and a yarn needle
Googling…
How to make eyes for knitted toys
The eyes in this one are knotted yarn…on an OWL! It’s not what you’re asking about but I thought you might like to see.
Nautie A toy pattern. The quote below is from way down at the bottom.
Make eyes by cutting two pairs of circles out of felt: a white circle about the size of a dime, and a black circle which is slightly smaller. Cut a narrow wedge from the black circle to make a “Pac-Man” shape. Using photo for reference, glue or sew the black and white circles together, then glue or sew the eyes to the nautiloid’s face.
Hmmm, I’m afraid the links won’t be much help but maybe they’ll be something you’d like to know.
I usually just do a more embroidered eye rather than felt. It is hard to sew them on neatly. Hopefully Shadowfox can help.
This is sewn along an edge but it’s basically what you would do around the eyes for your owl.
I think I have worked out how to do it - however trying put thread into needle is most difficult sigh
And i think its going to be big indeed lol! Im using Chunky yarn and I have a feeling this is going to be a big owl lol! And I love the colours! I have to say though knitting with chunky makes me knit slower - boo.
Maybe it’s the rare Giant Owl? :teehee: I’m not a fan of chunky yarns. Those big needles hurt my hands after awhile. It’s kind of like knitting with bats.
The problem with knitting with bats is that they keep trying to hang from the ceiling all day and fly away at night. :roflhard:
I find using huge needles awkward, haven’t used them enough to know if they’re a pain too. Yeah, kind of like knitting with bats…baseball, I mean. ![]()
Love the colours? I do!
I think baby girl’s gonna love it!
I probably should have used circs with Big Owl. its not so much the hand pain - not getting much, though; its more of carrying the weight of the knitting. and it is slighly awkward yes. lol. Oh well. never mind
Why not just transfer it to circs.
Because right now I dont own any lol
Those heavy projects are killer w/o circs. I don’t even own and straights anymore!
Yes i know that - NOW! LOL. Hey ho never mind
Nearly finished! who wants pictures? or would you prefer to wait till I blog this weekend
If you only put them in a blog I’ll never see them so here is good.
