Small circulars?

Does anyone know where they sell mini circulars. I heard somewhere on this forum that they sell circulars with a small 8 inch cord. Is this the smallest size they sell??? I am trying to avoid DPNS  I can use them but I donā€™t really care for them. Someone please help I want to make preemie items for charity :XX:

I havenā€™t seen any 8" circularsā€¦I got a 12" cable for my boye needlemaster set at hobby lobby. It might possibly work for preemie hatsā€¦ :?? You might check there.

just remember that the 12 inch cable is going to make a 20 inch circ. likely too big for little hats.

i bought 12 inch addis from MY boyfriend Jeff (back off Julie!! :fingerwag: ) to see how they would be. not bad but i did feel like i was working with very small needles. liveable though.

why not try the some of the other methods under the small diameter knitting in the videos. a lot of people around this joint swear by the two circ method!!

Well ya see I thought about knitting with that method but it feels a little awkward to me. Did you ever use that method? Plus My cables are stiff and I poured boiling hot water on themā€¦their still stiff  So I thought maybe the small circulars would be better

I forgot about the needles making the cable longerā€¦

Did I mention how much I  you right now lol Thank you soooo much

I avoid DPNs too. Working with 3 thumbs and 4 or 5 needles is just too much.

I used the ā€œmagic loopā€ for the first time last week. It is WONDERFULL!!!
Itā€™s done using 2 circular needles (of any length) to make small tubes.

Iā€™m not familar with where everything can be found on the fabulous board,
but I bet if you ask in How-to Questions, someone will be able to help.

I have the 8 inch circular from Halcyon. I am probably in the minority, but I  it! It worked great on legwarmers for my 1 year old DD. It is not needle tips and cord. It is one continuous piece of flexible plastic that tapers at the ā€œcordā€ area.

 thanks Pixie!

waves to Candice, too

Iā€™ve used 8" circs to make hats, and personally, I would recommend learning the two-circ method instead. I just found the small circulars to be very unpleasant to knit on. It could have just been the brand I was using, but the cable was very stiff and didnā€™t really want to bend properly - this made it kind of spring-loaded and if I wasnā€™t careful when I put it down, it would try to straighten out, ejecting stitches.

:rofling: The picture of this in my head is quite comical!

I thought the magic loop method was done with one circular with a very long cable? I like magic loop much, much better than the 2 circular method because I always get ladders using 2 circs.

I purchased the 8" circulars a few months back to knit a hat on. Theyā€™re nice, but my stitches end up much tighter than when I use magic loop or double pointed needles. I should add that I still had to switch to dpns to finish the crown. On the other hand, I think the 8" circs are working fabulously for a tube stockinette scarf Iā€™m 3/4 done with.

Debi

It is just one needle for magic loop.

It wasnā€™t so funny when I kept losing stitches!

I have an 8" circular needle tooā€¦I use it for sleeves on sweaters. Much better than doing it w/the dpnā€™s! It also works well for baby hats.
