Slipping the first stitch

In the video she says she slips the first stitch on each row. If I do that, does it count as a stitch? For example if I’m seed stitching the row I would knit the first stitch but if I slip the first one do I knit or purl the second? Right now I’m just working the first stitch but would like to slip it.

When you do a slipped stitch on seed stitch, you do whatever the next stitch should be based on the previous row. If a purl is facing you, knit it, and vice versa.

I will warn you, though, that if you’ve been working the edge stitches up to this point and now start slipping the first stitch, the edges will change in appearance.
