Hi Everyone - can someone help me decipher the following instructions? I cannot seem to get them to work:
(The previous row is K1, 3YO * to end - this I understand)
Row instructions I don’t understand:
“Slip 3 sts purlwise dropping the YO’s, return the 3 sts to the left needle and P through back loop from the back (twisting the stitch) leaving sts on left needle, 1 YO, P through back loop once again and remove from left needle. Repeat to end.”
Thank you!
Welcome to KnittingHelp!
On the next row you’ll be dropping the yarn overs and working with three purl sts. It sounds like the directions are really to purl 3 together through the back loop. Here’s a video for purl 2 together tbl. It’s a little awkward but do-able.
You want to start by slipping the next 3 purl sts to the right needle, dropping the yarn overs. Now slip those 3sts back to the left needle and purl them together tbl but don’t drop the sts off the left needle. Bring the working yarn over the right needle, around the needle and to the front between the needles and purl the same 3sts together tbl. Now it’s ok to slip the 3 sts off the left needle. You will have replaced them with 3 new sts so that there’s no decrease doing this
Just out of interest, can you tell us the pattern name or give a link to the pattern?
This is great - thank you so much! The pattern is one I purchased on Etsy so I don’t think the link will work in general. I took your advice and it seems to produce the correct visual pattern.
Thank you again!
