Slip stitch edge

Ok :+1: Hi I’m doing a front left of a cardigan and the pattern is telling me to do some kind of inside edge using slip stitch:

1st row. k1, p1, rep from * to last st, kn 1.
2nd row. S1, * k1, p1, rep from
to end.
These 2 rows set rib.

It says slip stitch should be knit wise. I’ve done what I think is right but it doesn’t look right at all. I can do edge on rib ending every row on purl but this pattern above is just not working out like that at all! Any ideas v welcome please, pulling mat hair out,
Thank you

I don’t usually use a slip stitch edge but it’s a matter of personal preference. Here’s a video for a couple of ways to work it. You may prefer one of them. Ordinarily you would slip the stitch purlwise unless it’s part of a decrease but again, you can see which you like.

Many thanks
