Slip one leave one unworked then what

Slip one leave next unworked …where Do I put this stitch this for a sock

Hi and welcome to KH. That’s an interesting instruction I’ve not encountered. What pattern is it from? If you would please share a link and let us know where in the pattern you are someone should be able to help demystify it.

The pattern is in ‘Easy Knit Socks’…Soho Publishing Co…can’t find a link , I have made several pairs of socks but have never been so stumped. The pattern is for the faux-cable socks And begins on turn heel…

Are you working from the cuff down or toe up? What part of the sock are you working on and what was the last thing it had you do? If you could post a few lines from the pattern (not the entire pattern, copyright you know) someone might know the answer.

Would the unworked stitch be the last stitch in the round? If you’re at the heel or working a heel flap you would be turning the work and working flat, not in rounds, now.

Cuff down…flat on two needles…slip one p33,turn. S1,k32,turn. Cont in this way, always slipping first st and working 1 less st each row until there are 10 center sts and 12 slipped sts each side

I am feeling so undone, I wonder if I have over thought this…

OK, I think I get it now. You’re doing short rows. Each row will be one stitch shorter than the last. Just turn as indicated, s1 and work to the next to last stitch and turn leaving that last stitch as it is. Just keep doing the same thing until you have 10 live stitches on the needle. It will work. I think that it will tell you to pick up stitches along the edges where you have the slipped stitches. If this doesn’t work tag salmonmac. I think she knowsverything and maybe more.

Thank you … Seems to me if the directions had just said knit to one stitch at end of row… I just about wore out the yarn taking it back and starting again :confounded:

I hear you! I had a hard time with short rows at first because I just couldn’t get what was being said. I’m glad it worked out for you. I’d love to see your socks when you finish so please post a photo.
