i can not understand the red section do i have to make i round of with stockinette st or 3 and what is the numbers 4-8-12??
SLEEVE:
Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 133-133-147-161-154-168 sts on circular needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with Muskat. Work 3 ridges in garter st - see explanation above. Insert a marker at beg of round = mid under sleeve. Then switch to circular needle size 4 mm / US 6 and work pattern as follows: A.1 (= 7 sts) over all sts on round = 19-19-21-23-22-24 repetitions on round. Continue like this with pattern until piece measures 5 cm / 2’’ from cast-on edge. NOTE! Stop after a round with stockinette st that is after a round like 3rd row in A.1 (i.e after round 4, 8, 12 etc), AT THE SAME TIME on this round bind off one whole repetition of A.1 on each side of marker (= 14 sts bind off in total mid under sleeve) = 119-119-133-147-140-154 sts remain on needle. Put piece aside and Make another sleeve.
4/ss means work 4th rnd of A1 if not yet long enough or work 1 rnd st st if long enough.
Could we have a link to the pattern or details for A1 to make sure?
Sorry I can’t get the numbers to tabulate and I’m a bit curt in my answer. This is my 3rd attempt a posting an answer and I’m this close holds forefinger and thumb close together to b*tch slapping my computer!
You know, rather than an extra stockinette row, to me it sounds like you should stop on a row 4 or 8 or 12, whatever row would be after 5cm. Those rows are stockinette stitch as opposed to the dec and yarn overs on the odd number rows. That looks like the pattern in the sleeves in the photo. This pattern, A1 is going to continue up the sleeves (along with the other charts). Julie, what do you think?
Yes, now I’ve had a look at the chart, A1 does have a pattern repeat of 4 rounds. The even rounds are plain knitting, which will give stockinette stitch. So, in a round about way, they are asking you to finish that part of the sleeve on a ‘4th’ row of the lacey pattern.
Because Garnstudio is Norwegian or Swedish, I think some of their instructions are literal translations of the original language.
Salmonmac, yes it does look as if A1 combines with/merges into A2 and A3 to allow to pattern to continue up the sleeves.
Yes, I think it’s a pattern instruction that is just over-written. Ending on a 4th row or on a row 4, 8, or 12 would have been sufficient and less confusing.
