This has to be the best place on the internet for knitting! Thanks for all the hard work that keeps it going!
I’m making my first: a zip jacket in Wendy Pampas and I’ve hit the sleeve section. Some of the directions are a bit confusing and my question has two parts thus:
‘Commencing with a K. row, continue in st.st. throughout as follows:-
Inc 1 st. at each end of 3rd and every following 9th row until there are 30 sts.
Work straight until Sleeve measures 44 cm from beg. finishing on a wrong side row.’
Does this mean that I knit three rows in st.st., increasing 1 st. at each end of the 3rd row, then knit nine more rows, increasing at each end on that ninth row, which would be the 12th row since commencing st.st.? Or, does it mean inc. 1 st at each end of the 3rd row, then knit 6 more rows, inc. 1 st. at each end of that 6th row, which would be the 9th row since commencing st.st.
Second part, along the same lines:
‘Working all decreases as set by Back, dec. 1 st. at each end of next and every following 4th row to 20 sts., then on every following alt. row until 6 sts. remain.’
Does this mean dec. 1 st. at each end of the next row, then knit 4 rows, dec. 1 st. at each end of that 4th row, which is the fifth since commencing this section of the sleeve? Or does it mean dec. 1 st. at each end of the next row, then knit 3 more rows, dec. 1 st. at each end of that 3rd row, which is the 4th since commencing this section of sleeve?
Thanks so much!
