Sl2yo double brioche

Hello

I’d like to put just one of these double brioche in the middle of a section of brioche but don’t know what the sl2yo means and there’s no key on the instruction. Anyone know what this means please?

This is the pattern:
Cast on a multiple of 4 sts.
Set-Up Row: *sl2yo, k2; rep from *.
Row 1: *sl2yo, brk2; rep from *.
Repeat Row 1 only.

And it’s from this tutorial page
https://www.briochestitch.com/archives/stitchvariations/double-brioche-stitch

Is it yarn forward, slip 2 stitches, yarn over needle, followed by knit?
On the return row how do you use a single yarn over to knit both of the brioche stitches?

Or is it yarn forward, slip 1, yarn over and all the way around the needle to finish at the front, slip one, then knit.
So there are 2 seperate yarn overs, one for each of the return row brioche stitches?

Or something else?

I found this. She says there’s an English style linked below the video. I’ve not done the stitch myself so can’t help based on experience. I must try it.

There’s also an explantion above the photo in your link. It’s slip 2 under a long yo.

Thank you @GrumpyGramma and @salmonmac those are both really helpful to me. I didn’t understand the explanation on the link but I get it now.
I’ve done a swatch and have been able to work it. Just what I needed.

Thanks

Do you like the stitch pattern? I’m thinking of doing a baby blanket and I’m wondering if it would be good for that. It would get boring fast I think.

I think it would be a lovely stitch for a blanket in the same way that regular brioche would be, squishy. That said though I have done a single “double brioche” not repeated across a whole row or project so I don’t have an entire piece to base my review on.

I am making just a neck band in brioche but due to the number of stitches I have in my stockinette back neck and wanting to pick up a stitch in each then add 1 each end, and wanting it symmetrical, ie purl each end… I needed odd number of stitches but could only get even…blah blah blah… the solution to make it symmetrical and the required number was to have 2 brioche knit stitches together in the centre back, basically eliminating a purl and making an even stitch count correct.
Sounds a bit convoluted. I just had the idea of putting 2 knit stitches together then looked for a way to do it.

To be honest I don’t think anyone would notice I have put a centred double brioche on the neck band, people really don’t pay that much attention (and besides, I rarely see anyone for them to notice!) but I wanted it symmetrical and this method worked (other parts of the sweater are purposely asymmetrical and irregular). Happy so far.

My neck band is still in a fluid design stage though, I seem to make neck bands at least 3 times per sweater.

In terms of boredom, I worked a largish panel in half fisherman’s and wasn’t bored because it was new, thn i frogged it an reknit it and wasn’t bored. And working swatches in brioche has been good. But this is not the size of a blanket.
Having it as part of a blanket would be more challenging and need more attention though. Some single brioche, some double, some cable, would make for nice design and an interesting knit.
