Sl1 wyif/wyib

Hi there everyone!
I am trying to knit a lapthrow but am stuck!!! The pattern says to Sl1 WYIF, then a couple of rows down it says to Sl1 WYIB.
Do I slip the yarn knitwise when it says WYIB and purlwise when WYIF?

Usually, if you are slipping a stitch without working it, you slip as if to purl, then it won’t twist. It does not matter if the yarn is held in front or back.

Even if the pattern states “WYIF” or “WYIB”?
This is how the pattern reads:

Row 1: With B, k 1, sl 1 WYIF, k 1, * p 1, k 1, sl 1 WYIF, k 1, rep from * across.
Row 2: With B, p 1, sl 1 WYIB, p 1, * k 1, p 1, sl 1 WYIB, p 1, rep from * across. Return to beg of row just worked.
Row 3: With A, p 1, k 1, p 1, * sl 1 WYIB, p 1, k 1, p 1, rep from * across.
Row 4: With A, k 1, p 1, k 1, * sl 1, WYIF, k 1, p 1, k 1, rep from * across. Return to beg of row just worked.
Rep these 4 rows for Pat St.

Unless the pattern states otherwise, I would always slip as if to purl. Same at RK says. WYIF or WYIB doesn’t make any difference.

Yes, the rule of thumb is to slip the stitch purlwise unless it’s part of a decrease. Since your directions aren’t for decreases, slip purlwise.

Thank you all!:muah: :muah:
