Sl 1 purlwise at the end of a row?

I’m working a pattern that says “k1, yo until last 2 sts, k1, sl 1 purlise, for a total of 418 sts on the needle.” I don’t understand how I can end a row on a slipped stitch?! I now have a loop at the end of the row. The next row says simply to purl. HELP!!!

Slipping purlwise and knitwise only refers to how the needle enters the stitch, not where your yarn is, so leave the yarn in the back like it was for your last knit st. Then when you turn it’s in front for you to purl the next row. It works fine even if the yarn is on the 2nd st instead of the first one.

Thank you!! So simple but I was thrown off when the yarn was on the 2nd st instead of the first one.
