I want to make this hat but I am worried 80 stitches is way too big. I made a hat last night on 11mm needles at 44 stitches and it was still a little loose. Any suggestions, as I dont want to start and make something that is too big. My head is about 23 inches around the widest part.

The current pattern is knit with 5mm needles and worsted weight yarn (19sts/4inches).
The pattern you worked previously was knit on 11mm needles which are substantially larger. The yarn was likely a heavier weight yarn too. With the heavier weight yarn, there are fewer sts needed for the same length measurement.
