I would like to try this pattern but I can’t figure out the size on the second page. How wide is it finished? This is knitting right? At the top of the page is all the abbr for crochet. Do you think the pattern is just bumpy and criss cross because it is hard to tell by the picture. What do you think?
it looks like the front side is 24 wide, 12 to the curve and 12 there after to the hip . So it should be 48 wide and 57 long. It’s knitted and probably the edging is crocheted.

It’s knit with a crochet border. The cast on works out to about 20" for the back, and the fronts are a little larger in order to lap over. The diagram for it gives the measurements in cm - 10cm = 3.9 inches, round up to 4"

You would follow the stitch pattern in the charts and it would give that texture. It is kind of hard to tell by the picture, but it is a knitting pattern. The crochet instructions are just cause there’s a crochet border.
The cast on # for the back is 98sts, and with a gauge of 20sts=4" the back would be approx 19.6" across. The pattern is only written for one size though, so if you don’t fall into the right measurements, I dunno. It does look like a bit of a wrap thing though so it might work.
The model looks so tiny that is why I thought it would be smaller. 40" wide is too big for me, my sweater size is 34" finished. How could it be that long! I guess I will keep on looking. Thanks for your help.
The thing is that it’s 98sts cast on at the bottom edge of the sweater, but if you read the instructions there a nice bit of shaping that happens, first decreases leading up to the waist and then some increases. So it actually gets decreased by 10sts, so that would make the measurement approx 17.6" after the decreases on the back piece.
Looks like a wrap…needs to have overlap.
The model does look tall but it says’ size medium the extra is needed for the design. I don’t know if the sizing is Italian sizing, US or generic.

Thank you for your help. I am going to go for it because I got some yarn at a good price and it is a beautiful warm brown, just what I like. You know I will be asking you “how to” soon. :teehee:
